As a parish priest serving two rural parishes, having a reliable car is not a luxury, it is absolutely essential to my ministry and daily responsibilities. From leading worship and visiting parishioners, to supporting families during times of crisis and celebration, much of my vocation depends on being able to travel across our communities.
For many years I relied on an old second-hand car which I had owned since 2010. Sadly, it eventually reached the point where it was beyond repair. Living on a reduced budget, I simply did not have the means to purchase another reliable vehicle, and I honestly wasn’t sure whether I would qualify for a clergy loan.
With encouragement and support, an application was made to Churches Mutual on my behalf, and I was truly delighted and deeply grateful when we learned that I had been approved for a loan. Thanks to Churches Mutual, I was able to purchase a dependable 2018 vehicle which has completely transformed both my ministry and daily life.
Alongside my parish duties, I also serve as a volunteer medic ( Community First Responder with the ambulance service ) Having a reliable car means I am not only able to continue serving my parishes faithfully, but I can also respond quickly to medical emergencies within my community and beyond when people are often facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
I cannot express enough gratitude for the kindness, dignity, and practical support shown by Churches Mutual. Their loan service has made a real and meaningful difference to my ability to serve others. What may seem like “just a car loan” has in reality become a vital lifeline for both ministry and community care.
Thank you, Churches Mutual, for enabling clergy like me to continue serving where we are needed most.
